USA Curling is excited to open the registration for and announce the dates and locations of the Olympic Trials Qualifying Series for Men’s, Women’s and Mixed Doubles Curling.

MEN’S & WOMEN’S

As outlined in the 2022 Men’s and Women’s Olympic Team Qualification Procedures (click here), the winning team of the 2022 U.S. Olympic Team Trials for Curling will represent the United States at the 2022 Winter Olympic Games in Beijing, China.

Three teams have already qualified to play in the Olympic Trials for men’s and women’s curling:

  • 2020 Men’s and Women’s National Champions (Shuster – Men, Peterson – Women)

  • The two highest ranked teams in the 2021 Men’s and Women’s National Championships (Dropkin & Brundidge – Men, Christensen & Sinclair – Women)

Through the Trials Qualifying Series, three men’s and three women’s teams will qualify for the 2022 U.S. Olympic Team Trials for Curling. Teams will qualify by winning either of the two Trials Qualifying events, and the third team to qualify through the Series will have earned the most WCF World Team Ranking points combined in the two Series events. The Series events for Men’s and Women’s are scheduled as follows:

  • September 3-6, 2021: Granite Curling Club (Seattle, Washington)

  • September 30-October 3, 2021: Mayfield Curling Club (Warrensville Heights, Ohio)

Teams can qualify for the Trials Qualifying Series by being ranked in the top 150 in the WCF World Team Ranking System or have registered to compete in the 2021 National Championships. Athletes who have already qualified for the 2022 U.S Olympic Team Trials for Curling may not participate in the Trials Qualifying Series.

MIXED DOUBLES

As outlined in the 2022 Mixed Doubles Olympic Team Qualification Procedures (click here), the winning team of the 2022 U.S. Olympic Mixed Doubles Trials for Curling will represent the United States to qualify for the 2022 Olympic Games.

Seven teams have already qualified to play in the Olympic Trials for mixed doubles curling:

  • By placing top three at the 2020 U.S. Mixed Doubles National Championship (Peterson/Polo, Christensen/Shuster, Anderson/Dropkin)

  • By being one of the top four teams at the 2021 U.S. Mixed Doubles National Championship (Persinger/Plys, Bear/Stopera, Burchesky/Richardson, Geving/Violette)

Three teams will qualify for the 2022 Mixed Doubles Olympic Trials through the Trials Qualifying Series by winning either one of the two Series events, or by being the team with the most WCF World Team Ranking points combined in the two events. The Series events for Mixed Doubles are scheduled as follows:

  • August 19-22, 2021: Denver Curling Club (Golden, Colorado)

  • September 17-20, 2021: Four Seasons Curling Club (Blaine, Minnesota)

Teams who registered to compete in the 2021 National Championships are eligible to compete in the Trials Qualifying Series. Athletes who have already qualified for the 2022 U.S Olympic Team Trials for Curling may not participate in the Trials Qualifying Series.

“We look forward to bringing the Olympic Trials Qualifying Series events to four great clubs across the country,” said CEO Jeff Plush. “On behalf of USA Curling, we thank Mayfield, Denver, Granite, and Four Seasons Curling Club for making this Series possible by opening their doors as a stop on the road to Beijing 2022.”
