USA CURLING ANNOUNCES 2022 WHEELCHAIR MIXED DOUBLES NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP

*UPDATE: The Championship has been postponed for Mar. 27-29, 2022 at Kettle Moraine Curling Club in Hartland, Wisconsin.

The inaugural World Wheelchair Mixed Doubles Curling Championship will take place in Lohja, Finland on Apr. 30 – May 6, 2022.

The Championship is scheduled following the 2022 Paralympic Winter Games to allow athletes to compete in the World Championship and the Games should they qualify to do so.

The World Curling Federation will announce further information on teams, format, and schedule of play soon, but plans to feature around 25 teams.

USA Curling will select its team through the newly established 2022 Wheelchair Mixed Doubles National Championship.

The National Championship, featuring teams of one man and one woman, will be hosted by Wausau Curling Club on Jan. 11-14, 2022, with dates subject to change based on the number of entries.

“We’re really looking forward providing another avenue for our athletes to achieve world level experience and competitive success,” said Wheelchair National Team Director Pete Annis. “Adding this discipline creates more opportunities, which will continue to build exposure for the sport and strengthen our pipeline.”

Registration for the 2022 Wheelchair Mixed Doubles National Championship will be open from Dec. 7 at 12pm (CST) – Dec. 14 at 11:45pm (CST).

Upon the closure of registration, the format for the 2022 Wheelchair Mixed Doubles National Championship will be confirmed.
