[EDEN PRAIRIE, MN, November 15, 2024]—As a National Governing Body (NGB) of the United States Olympic and Paralympic Committee (USOPC), USA Curling is responsible for compliance with U.S. Center for SafeSport policy.

Certain individuals within USA Curling and its member organizations are required to maintain SafeSport certification. These individuals include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Directors of USA Curling Member Clubs (regardless of Individual membership status).

  • Coaches, including those at USA Curling events, championships, and playdowns leading to championship events.

  • Officials serving in the capacity of Chief Umpire or Deputy Chief Umpire at any USA Curling championship or event managed by USA Curling. This includes active Level III apprentices.

  • The Head Ice Technician at a USA Curling championship or event

  • The Chair of the Organizing Committee of the USA Curling U18 and U21 Junior National Championships

  • Course Conductors of USA Curling Sport Education classes

  • Level I (or higher) Certified Instructors

  • Volunteers and paid consultants at junior camps or any other junior program receiving financial or administrative support from USA Curling

  • USA Curling employees, including National Team staff, and members of the Board of Directors

  • Non-athletes/support staff authorized by USA Curling to reside, train, or work at an Olympic Training Center

  • Athletes who receive funding from USA Curling, represent the United States in curling at world championship events, and/or have been designated for the USADA testing pool

SafeSport Training is included in USA Curling membership and is available to all USA Curling members aged 18 and older. To access the training, log in to MyUSACurling.com, click “View Profile” and choose “Center for SafeSport Training” from the menu. Click “Access Training” or “Access Core Training” to take the annual required training. Access Training should be used the first time you complete SafeSport education, while Core Training serves as an annual refresher.

You can also choose “Access Additional Training” to complete additional, optional training. Please note that programs offered in “Access Additional Training” are recommended, but do not satisfy the annual requirement for SafeSport certification.

Member Clubs may use Roles in the MyUSACurling platform to ensure SafeSport compliance. Applying a relevant Role to a member profile will add the SafeSport Training requirement to that profile. Members with these Roles will receive notices when certification is going to expire, and “Action Required” notices if the training has lapsed. Member Clubs may also use Roles to identify individuals who have not completed the training. More information about assigning Roles and their use in SafeSport compliance is available in Our House—MyUSACurling User Guide on this site.
