HAMILTON SIBLINGS TO REPRESENT TEAM USA AT WORLD MIXED DOUBLES CHAMPIONSHIP
[EDEN PRAIRIE, MN, April 17th, 2024] — Siblings Matt and Becca Hamilton are set to represent Team USA at the World Mixed Doubles Championship in Öestersund, Sweden, from April 20-25.
This marks the third appearance for Team Hamilton/Hamilton at the mixed doubles world championship, having most recently finished eighth in 2022.
The Hamilton duo secured their place in Sweden by winning the national title in Traverse City, Michigan in early March. Their victory came in a closely contested game against the reigning world champions, Team Thiesse/Dropkin (Cory Thiesse, Korey Dropkin).
Following their national championship win, Matt Hamilton said, “We had to win four straight elimination games, including a tiebreaker. I’m proud of how my sister and I played through that stretch, and we’re thrilled to represent the United States in Sweden.”
“After such a competitive national championship, we are excited to see the Hamiltons compete in Sweden,” said Katie Baker, USA Curling Sporting Director. “Matt and Becca are both successful curlers in four-person play, and they have powerful chemistry together on the ice in Mixed Doubles.”
Team Hamilton/Hamilton is coached by two-time Olympian Ann Swisshelm, and Mike Gulenchyn will serve as the team athletic trainer.
Overall, Team USA has three podium finishes at the World Mixed Doubles Championship, including the world title captured in 2023 by Team Thiesse/Dropkin.
