PAN CONTINENTAL CURLING CHAMPIONSHIPS KICK OFF, SHUSTER AND PETERSON REPRESENTING TEAM USA

[EDEN PRAIRIE, MN, October 25, 2024]— The third edition of the Pan Continental Curling Championships gets underway this weekend in Lacombe, Alberta, Canada. The event will run from October 27th through November 4th.

The 2024 USA Curling national champions, Team Shuster (John Shuster, Chris Plys, Colin Hufman, Matt Hamilton, John Landsteiner) and Team Peterson (Tabitha Peterson, Cory Thiesse, Vicky Persinger, Tara Peterson, Taylor Anderson) will represent the United States at this event.

The championships are for countries from World Curling’s Americas and Pacific-Asia zones and are used as the qualification event for the World Men’s and World Women’s championships. The event features 15 women’s teams and 17 men’s teams, divided into A and B divisions. Eight teams will compete in each A division, with the top five teams advancing to the 2025 World Championships. The highest-finishing teams in the B divisions will be promoted to the A divisions in 2025.

In the Men’s A Division, the United States will compete against Australia, Canada, China, Chinese Taipei, Japan, Korea, and New Zealand. In the B Division, teams are Kazakhstan, Jamaica, Qatar, Brazil, Saudi Arabia, Philippines, Puerto Rico, Nigeria, Hong Kong, and Kenya.

The Women’s A Division, in addition to the United States, includes Canada, China , Chinese Taipei, Japan, Korea, Mexico, and New Zealand. The B Division teams are Australia, Brazil, Hong Kong, Jamaica, Kazakhstan, Kenya, Nigeria, and Philippines.

In 2023, Korea won the women’s title, while Canada topped the men’s field.
