[EDEN PRAIRIE, MN, October 9, 2024]— Aberdeen, Scotland will once again host teams from around the world, as the 2024–2025 World Curling season gets underway with the World Mixed Curling Championship.

This championship, running from October 12-19, brings together 39 teams of two women and two men to compete for the 2024 world title. Aberdeen is certainly familiar with this event, as the complex will be hosting this championship for the fourth consecutive year.

The United States will be represented by Team Falco from the Denver Curling Club. Skip David Falco, third Becca Wood, second Lance Wheeler, and lead Clare Moores, captured the USA Curling Mixed Fours National Championship last April. This will be their first time wearing Team USA colors at this event.

Skip Falco said, “We’ve been working hard to prepare and can’t wait to get started in Aberdeen. It’s a thrill to represent the United States and our curling community.”

Teams are divided into five groups as follows:

Group A – Canada, Czechia, England, Hungary, Latvia, New Zealand, Philippines, Türkiye

Group B – Australia, India, Ireland, Italy, Nigeria, Poland, Puerto Rico, Sweden

Group C – Brazil, Spain, Hong Kong, Romania, Scotland, Slovenia, Chinese Taipei, United States

Group D – Austria, Denmark, Estonia, Japan, Netherlands, Norway, Slovakia

Group E – Belgium, Finland, Germany, Kazakhstan, Kenya, Switzerland, Ukraine, Wales

All five groups will play a round-robin series within their group, beginning on Saturday. At the end of the round-robin stage there will be a ranking for first, second, third and fourth position within each group. The top three teams from each group qualify directly for the 1/8 finals. Then, the highest-ranked fourth place team—comparing Draw Shot Challenge (DSC) average between the fourth place teams—will join the final group of 16 teams.

The playoff round will begin on Friday. Semi-finals will take place on Saturday, October 19th at 9 AM, with the medal games following at 3 PM.

How can you watch?

All sheets and draws of the World Mixed Curling Championship will be streamed live on The Curling Channel. Commentary will be offered in five feature games. Those games are:

• Japan v Denmark (17 October at 12 PM)

• Spain v United States (17 October at 4 PM)

• #2 v #15 of the 1/8 games (18 October at 1 PM)

• Quarter-finals on sheet D (18 October at 7 PM)

• Gold medal game (19 October at 3 PM)

All games are eight ends and game times are BST (British Summer Time) which is Coordinated Universal Time (UTC) +1 hour. When the event begins,  live scores and results will be available here.
