[EDEN PRAIRIE, MN, June 6, 2024] USA Curling is excited to announce that the 2025 Men’s and Women’s National Championships will be held at the Duluth Entertainment Convention Center (DECC) in Duluth, MN, from January 27th through February 2nd.

It marks the first time this national championship has been held in the state of Minnesota since 2008 when Team McCormick and Team Brown captured the women’s and men’s titles at the Hibbing Curling Club.

“It’s exciting to bring this important national championship to a city and a state that is synonymous with curling,” noted USA Curling CEO Dean Gemmell. “Duluth is home to Olympic and World Champions, and we know that people from around the country will have a terrific experience when they visit this thriving city.”

Eight men’s and eight women’s teams will earn berths in the event. Not only will the winners move on to represent the United States at the 2025 World Men’s Championship in Moose Jaw, SK, Canada, and the 2025 World Women’s Championship in Uijeongbu, Korea, but the champions will have an opportunity to grab a spot in the Olympic Team Trials slated for Sioux Falls, SD, in November of 2025.

On the Women’s side, defending national champion Team Peterson has secured a berth in the event, along with 2024 Junior Women’s national champion Team Giroux. In the Men’s field, 2024 national champion Team Shuster has earned a berth, as well as Team Wendling, the winner of the 2025 Junior Men’s Nationals. The remaining berths will be filled based on World Curling Team rankings and results at the St. Paul Cash Spiel, this year’s National Championship qualifier bonspiel.

At the St. Paul Cash Spiel, scheduled for October 18-20, 2024, the highest-finishing Women’s team and the highest-finishing Men’s team, not already qualified, will each earn a berth in the 2025 Nationals. More information on this event will be available soon.

“We’re excited to bring these national championships to the facililty that is vital hub in Duluth,” said Sue Ellen Moore, Director of Sales at DECC. “There are plenty of hotels connected to the DECC by skywalks, and we know the arena will be a great venue for these talented athletes.”

Jessica Kilby of Visit Duluth added, “Our city is often called a true orginal—both rugged and refined, with all kinds of things to do. We can’t wait to showcase Duluth to visitors from around the country.”

Gemmell noted, “Key to this effort will be the involvement and support of Visit Duluth, the Minnesota Curling Association, the Duluth Curling Club, and organizations around the state like the Twin Cities Curling Association. We have already begun collaborating with many in the curling community, and we look forward to working together in the months ahead.”

The Duluth Curling Club will be a hub for the curling community and a place for fans to gather after games—it is part of the same complex as the DECC.

Schedules and ticket information will be posted in the coming months. To learn more about qualifying for the 2025 Men’s & Women’s Nationals, please see the USA Curling 2024-25 Qualifying Procedures document.
