FINAL OF U.S. OLYMPIC TEAM TRIALS FOR MIXED DOUBLES CURLING—GAME ONE GOES TO THIESSE/DROPKIN

[EDEN PRAIRIE, MN, February 22, 2025]  Cory Thiesse and Korey Dropkin are one win away from earning the right to represent the United States in Mixed Doubles Curling at the 2026 Winter Olympic Games after defeating Sarah Anderson and Andrew Stopera 8-7 in the first game of the Best-of-Three Championship Final.

Thiesse/Dropkin, after winning the Page Playoff game, advanced directly to the final. Anderson/Stopera, after losing in the Page Playoff game, came back to win a semi-final matchup against Madison Bear and Aidan Oldenburg earlier in the day.

The championship is a Best-of-Three contest, and there was little to separate the two teams in this contest. Thiesse/Dropkin scored three in the third end but Anderson/Stopera battled back. Trailing 7-5 in the eighth end, Anderson made a terrific short angle runback to score two and push the game to an extra end.

With a cluster of rocks around the button, Anderson just missed executing a delicate raise, allowing Thiesse/Dropkin to score one without throwing their final shot.

Game Two will be on CNBC on Sunday at 12 PM Mountain Time. If a Game Three is necessary, it will follow at 6 PM Mountain Time. Games are also available on Peacock, nbcolympics.com, and the NBC Sports app. More information about the championship games at the U.S. Olympic Team Trials for Mixed Doubles, including how to purchase tickets, can be found here.

While the Mixed Doubles Trials will wrap up tomorrow, curling fans can still look forward to the U.S. Olympic Team Trials for Men’s & Women’s Curling in November of 2025 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, at the Denny Sanford Premier Center. All session passes are available online now—single-session tickets will be offered soon at Denny Sanford Premier Center.
