The U.S. Mixed Doubles Curling Team of Vicky Persinger (Fairbanks, Alas.) and Chris Plys (Duluth, Minn.) concluded the tournament on Monday morning with an overall record of 3-6.

“I'm still pretty heavy with disappointment if I'm being honest,” said Vicky Persinger after the Team’s final round robin game. “I had pretty good expectations for us. We just didn't really bring our A-game.”

The duo opened the round robin of mixed doubles with a victory over Australia before dropping two consecutive games to Italy and then Norway.

"I think we dropped a few early games that we didn't expect to,” added Persinger. “We came out each game like it was a new day and new game, but just weren't able to bring the game that we know we're capable of which was disappointing and frustrating for sure.”

The ‘A-game’ Persinger refers to is what propelled her and partner Chris Plys to the top of the field at the 2022 U.S. Olympic Team Trials for Mixed Doubles Curling and again at the 2022 Olympic Qualification Event to earn the Team one of the final two berths to the 2022 Games.

The Team picked up two more wins against China and Sweden before reaching their fifth loss against Czech Republic, ultimately eliminating USA from medal contention.

“I'll take my experience going forward and use it the best I can, while still remembering the good parts and shots here,” concluded Persinger.

The mixed doubles event concludes the Olympic competition for Vicky Persinger, but she will remain in the Village for a few days to cheer on men’s Team Shuster and women’s Team Peterson as they begin their respective round robins in four-person curling.

Chris Plys will join Team Shuster for the men’s competition at the third position.

Despite expressing disappointment in last week’s performance, Plys is eager to compete on Olympic ice again.

"I'm looking forward to going back out there,” said Plys. “I can't let this last week affect what I have to do going forward."

Team Shuster will open the round robin against Russian Olympic Committee at 8:05pm (local time) on Thursday.
