MEN’S WORLD JUNIOR-B CHAMPIONSHIP GETS UNDERWAY
[EAGAN, MN, December 13, 2023] — The 2023 Men’s World Junior-B Curling Championship is set to begin on December 14th at the Kisakallio Sports Institute in Lohja, Finland. Team Wendling traveled to Finland earlier this week to represent the United States. The team is skipped by Wes Wendling, with Kevin Tuma at third (vice-skip), Jackson Bestland second, Jackson Armstrong as lead, and Caden Hebert as the alternate.
The men will play a six-game round robin schedule in Group C with Brazil, Denmark, England, Hong Kong, Latvia, and New Zealand. After pool play concludes, eight of the 22 teams will earn playoff berths based off of their ranking in each pool and draw shot challenge result. The top four teams from the event will be promoted to the Men’s Junior World Championship, which will also take place at the Kisakallio Sports Institute from February 17th to the 24th.
This will be Team Wendling’s first appearance at a world event. “I’m so excited to play in my first world event and finally represent the USA! It’s a dream come true,” said Wes. Kevin Tuma, the team’s vice-skip competed at the Men’s World Junior Curling Championship last year as part of Team Sampson.
