DAVE STAVETEIG

Dave began making ice at the Grand Forks Curling Club, and previously held the Head Ice Technician position at USA Curling. He began his tenure with the organization in 2009, and continued in that role through 2019.  

“I am honored by this recognition from the curling community and the committee,” Staveteig remarked. “Creating the best ice conditions possible for competitors and teaching others the skills involved in world-class icemaking was very fulfilling.” 

Along with providing great surfaces at National Championship and Olympic levels, Dave helped train individuals and provided the knowledge base necessary to produce the best ice conditions possible for all levels of curling.  

Dave’s dedication and passion for his craft, an alchemy that is part science and part art, are greatly appreciated by top competitors, Member Clubs, and the national organization. His efforts were integral to elevating the sport in the United States.
