Frank was the organizer of the first unofficial world curling championship, bringing together U.S. and Canadian national champions to compete in 1957.

A radio and television broadcaster, Frank founded the U.S. Curling Media Association to help promote curling. Frank began curling in 1948 and served as president of the Hibbing and Duluth curling clubs in Minnesota. In 1951, he initiated the Last Chance Bonspiel and televised the first play-by-play of curling at this competition, describing the rocks in the house by positioning them on a clock face.

Frank also was instrumental in the development of women’s and high school curling programs.
