AMENDED 2022 U.S. OLYMPIC TEAM QUALIFICATION PROCEDURES: MEN’S, WOMEN’S, AND MIXED DOUBLES
With the consultation and approval of the USA Curling Athletes’ Advisory Council (AAC) and the United States Olympic and Paralympic Committee (USOPC) USA Curling has amended the 2022 U.S. Olympic Team Qualification Procedures for men’s, women’s, and mixed doubles curling.
The amended qualification procedures will now allow for accommodations on registration requirements to be made on a case-by-case basis.
“The past year has presented us all with unprecedented challenges,” said USA Curling CEO Jeff Plush. “The amended Procedures will enable our organization to allow for an added level of accommodation should it be required by extenuating circumstances.”
The amendment, outlined in 1.2.2.c of the procedural documents, states:
“If an extraordinary and unforeseen circumstance prevents a team from registering to compete at the 2021 National Championships, the team may petition the CEO. The CEO, in consultation with the Board Chair and USOPC AAC Representative (or the USOPC AAC Alternate if the Representative has a conflict of interest), may exempt teams from this registration requirement on a case-by-case basis.”
The amended procedures will not impact teams already qualified for the upcoming Trials, change the number of teams that will qualify for the upcoming Trials, or the process in which teams will qualify for the upcoming Trials.
