FINAL FOUR DETERMINED AT 2022 U.S. MIXED DOUBLES NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP
After a 9-1 final score in the matchup between Hamilton/Hamilton and Sinclair/Ruohonen, Team Hamilton/Hamilton will advance to the 1 vs. 2 page playoff game, while Sinclair/Ruohonen moved to the qualification game for the 3 vs. 4 page playoff game against Team Andreson/Dropkin on Saturday at 11am.
Anderson/Dropkin qualified for Saturday morning’s matchup by defeating Anderson/Clawson 9-4 in the first C-event playoff game.
Sinclair/Ruohonen took control of the game early, scoring two with hammer in the first end, followed by a steal of one in the second to gain a three-point lead.
In the third end, Anderson/Dropkin answered, narrowly making it by a guard on Anderson’s takeout to score four points and take the lead.
The game remained close throughout the second half and both teams were even at 6-6 in the final end.
Jamie Sinclair executed a thin double takeout, removing Anderson/Dropkin’s stone from scoring position and securing a 7-6 victory.
In the other playoff matchup to determine the team advancing to the 3 vs. 4 page playoff game, Team Moores/Wheeler faced Strouse/Casper. Moores/Wheeler advanced through the C-event after defeating Rhyme/Smith 6-1, and Strouse/Casper fell into the matchup after losing to Walker/Stopera 8-6.
Moores/Wheeler was first on the scoreboard, stealing a single in the first end, before forcing Strouse/Casper to a single.
High execution on both sides of the sheet kept the game tight, and the score was tied 4-4 in the eighth end when Strouse/Casper opted to use its power play.
Team Strouse/Casper sat as shot rock when Moores/Wheeler came up light on its final draw attempt of the game, securing a 5-4 victory for Strouse/Casper.
Team Strouse/Casper will face Sinclair/Ruohonen in the 3 vs. 4 page playoff game, scheduled for 3pm on Saturday.
Team Hamilton/Hamilton will face Walker/Stopera in the 1 vs. 2 page playoff game, scheduled for 3pm on Saturday.
