2024 US MEN’S & WOMEN’S NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS SLATED FOR THE RINK AT AMERICAN DREAM

[EAGAN, MN, June 5, 2023] — For the first time ever, the Garden State will host a major curling championship, bringing elite-level play to the New York City region in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
The 2024 US Men’s and Women’s National Championships will be in New Jersey from January 29th to February 4th. An opportunity to move closer to representing the United States at the 2026 Winter Olympics will be on the line at The Rink at American Dream in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
“We are proud to make New Jersey sports history once again by hosting the USA Curling National Championship for the first time,” said New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy. “From the 2021 Army-Navy Game to UFC 288, our state has consistently proven its ability to host highly anticipated marquee sporting events to global audiences. We look forward to building upon our impressive record by showcasing this exciting Olympic sport for national and global audiences alike.”
The top eight Men’s and the top eight Women’s teams in the country will compete for the national title inside American Dream, a large retail and entertainment venue in the Meadowlands Sports Complex, on an NHL-sized surface that is also the home of the Metropolitan Riveters, a women’s professional hockey team that competes in the Premier Hockey Federation.
“We started conversations with the team at American Dream last October, and after a site visit in April, we’re looking forward to installing a championship curling surface in this exciting new venue,” noted USA Curling CEO Dean Gemmell. “The venue will have a ticketed capacity of about 2,000 people per session, while also providing some opportunities for mall visitors to get a peek at the action on the ice and even try the sport themselves.”
First opened in October 2019, American Dream offers an array of attractions including the Nickelodeon theme park, the largest indoor theme park in the country, DreamWorks water park, the largest indoor waterpark in the Western Hemisphere, Big Snow, the nation’s only indoor skiing and snowboarding park, and more than 200 retail stores and restaurants. Curling fans will be able to watch the best players in the country and enjoy the offerings of a world-class entertainment venue.

The stakes are high at these championships, as the country’s top curling teams work to secure berths in the 2025 Team USA Olympic Team Trials. But the Meadowlands Sports Complex is no stranger to pressure-packed athletic competition—Metlife Stadium, home to both the New York Giants and New York Jets of the NFL, is adjacent to American Dream.
“We can’t wait to compete at the highest level in front of fans from New Jersey and New York,” added 2018 Olympic Gold Medalist John Shuster. “I’m sure the energy will be great, and my team is definitely looking forward to it.”
Four teams of each gender will qualify for the playoff round, and after a week of competition one Men’s and one Women’s team will stand atop the podium. The Women’s team will represent the United States at the 2024 World Women’s Curling Championships in Sydney, Nova Scotia, while the Men’s team will head to the 2024 World Men’s Curling Championships in Schaffhausen, Switzerland.
