ARENA CLUB WORKING GROUP FORMED
November 17, 2022.
To improve its ability to meet the specific needs of arena-based member clubs, USA Curling has established an Arena Club Working Group.
Led by Jane Sharp of the Jersey Pinelands Curling Club, this group will meet regularly to identify issues, improve communications between these clubs and the national organization, and help develop materials that will benefit the dedicated members who curl on prepared skating ice.
In addition to Sharp, the members of the Working Group are Matt Moore (Inland Northwest Curling Club), Tatiana Berry (St. Louis Curling Club), Mitchell Raeck (Lansing Curling Club), Sarah Allen (Coastal Carolina Curling Club), Harmen Steele (Missoula Curling Club), and Jeremy Malerich (Silicon Valley Curling Club).
“I’m thrilled that this group of dedicated arena curlers have stepped up to launch this Working Group,” Sharp commented. “While we’ll be the ones taking the initial steps, we welcome all curlers who play on arena ice to step forward and work with us. Together, we can provide the national organization with feedback and direction on programs that will benefit all of us.”
USA Curling Interim CEO will work closely with this group, and turn to them to prioritize needs and help develop solutions that will advance their efforts.
“This group has already drafted a survey for participants at the recent 2022 Arena Nationals that will be sent out shortly,” noted Gemmell. “That’s just one small step—we’re going to leverage the collective experiences of arena curlers to guide future efforts that serve this group and improve overall communications.”
