STATEMENT FROM USA CURLING BOARD OF DIRECTORS
USA Curling is committed to ensuring a culture of respect and dignity with the well-being of people at the forefront of our actions, policies, and leadership’s attention.
Following the recent release of the Yates report, an investigation commissioned by US Soccer into the allegations of abusive behavior and sexual misconduct in the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL), the USA Curling Board of Directors called a special session and immediately commissioned an investigation of the information contained in the Yates report regarding USA Curling CEO Jeff Plush’s actions during his time as NWSL Commissioner.
After reviewing the results of this investigation, the USA Curling Board of Directors is confident in Jeff’s ability to continue as an effective leader of the organization. The findings in this investigation, Jeff’s candor during interviews with the Board, and his actions during his time as USA Curling CEO reassured the Board about his strong commitment to upholding the very highest standards for athlete well-being. Additionally, the Board is encouraged by Jeff’s willingness to fully cooperate in the ongoing NWSL and its Players Association investigation.
A thoughtful review of this matter has taken some time and the Board appreciates the patience from stakeholders as we have ensured a comprehensive review of this matter. Collectively, we continue to support and affirm the organization’s zero tolerance for conduct which negatively impacts a person’s well-being.
“The Board has been deeply involved in the process in ensuring Jeff can continue to lead the organization,” said USA Curling Board of Directors Chair Lynn LaRocca. “We are confident in our due diligence and the thoroughness that went into reviewing the matter.”
Out of an abundance of caution and respect for the ongoing NWSL investigation, we will not be commenting further on the matter at this time. USA Curling fully supports the NWSL’s efforts to discover all facts in the matter to assure the safety and well-being of athletes.
