THE PASSING OF CHARLIE BROWN
November 11, 2022
With great sadness and regret, USA Curling shares the news that Schenectady-based curler Charlie Brown has passed away.
Not only was Charlie deeply committed to his family—wife Kathy, sons Andy and Teddy—he poured himself into working on behalf of our sport. He was a Past-President of both the Schenectady Curling Club and the Grand National Curling Club, and was most recently the USA Curling Director for the GNCC. His love for curling was obvious and infectious, and his commitment to providing his services in support of it never wavered.
It was always a pleasure to share a sheet of curling ice with Charlie, whether you were playing with him or against. He had a quick wit, a generous laugh, and could be counted on to deliver a wry comment at just the right time. He was open to new ideas, and a conversation with him would always provide valuable perspective. As a testament to his efforts on behalf of curling and the respect he had among his peers, Charlie was slated to be a part of the American side on the upcoming Scots Tour.
Please keep his family in your thoughts during this difficult time.
