COLLEGE CURLING UPDATE
(STEVENS POINT, Wis.) – With the fall semester coming to a close, the College Curling Committee has decided that all activities relating to the USA Curling College Tour and on-ice Championship will be canceled through the spring semester.
In August, the College Curling Committee announced the cancelation of the season through the end of 2020, however, based on the rising numbers of Covid-19 and the challenges of securing safe conditions for a championship, the Committee has ultimately decided to forego the on-ice tour for the remainder of the season.
“Of course, our biggest disappointment will be the graduating class of seniors who will not be with us next year,” said Gordon Maclean, Chair, College Curling Committee. “We wish all of you the best in every endeavor and invite you to stop by and watch college curling if you happen to end up in a place where that is possible.”
The Committee is hard at work to plan an on-ice reboot and remains optimistic to get started on the ice again in September 2021, with the next championship currently scheduled for March 11-13, 2022.
Until the College Curling Championship can return to its on-ice home, the virtual version of college curling is still in full swing. The USA Curling Virtual College Curling Championship, played on www.flyordie.com, is taking place from December 10-13, 2020, and will begin again in the spring semester.
If you have any questions regarding the cancelation or upcoming virtual tour, please contact the College Curling Committee at info@collegecurlingusa.org.
