TOP COLLEGE CURLERS HEADING TO OHIO

Action from the 2022 College National Championship in Fargo, ND.

[EAGAN, MN, February 27, 2023]—Teams are preparing to compete at the 2023 College National Championship, hosted by the Bowling Green Curling Club in Bowling Green, Ohio, from March 10-12. This championship offers great curling  on the ice, and promotes accessibility, diversity, and inclusion for student athletes.

“Sports are a valuable component of the collegiate experience ,” said USA Curling Interim CEO Dean Gemmell. “Not only do the players in this event compete at a high level, their organizing efforts make our sport accessible to people of all backgrounds, including students who may not have had access to curling prior to college.”

The field at this national championship includes the schools who have accumulated the most points on the USA Curling College Tour. The tour consists of multiple bonspiels throughout the season, as well as head-to-head Match Play events between two colleges. College teams are allowed to adjust rosters between events to maximize participation. Four players must play in each game, and teams are allowed two alternates (rather than the usual one) to allow more individuals a chance to compete.

The format of the event will see the sixteen colleges seeded into pools of four with each playing a round robin. After the round robin, the top eight colleges will advance to a single-elimination Championship Bracket, with the bottom eight teams moving on to a Consolation Round.
