FANS HAVE A CHANCE TO GET ON CHAMPIONSHIP CURLING ICE AT THE DENVER COLISEUM
USA Curling Providing Spectators an Opportunity to Experience the Sport Themselves
[EAGAN, MN, February 3, 2023] —Championship curling is coming to Denver from February 5-11, as the 2023 USA Curling Men’s and Women’s National Championships will be held at the Denver Coliseum.
Not only does the field include Olympic gold medalists and a former NFL All-Pro, during afternoon and evening session spectators can buy a special raffle ticket—one lucky fan will win the right to throw a stone on the competition ice during the Fifth End Break (halftime). Land the stone in the rings at the far end and that fan will win official USA Curling Columbia merchandise.
At the conclusion of each afternoon session, there will also be a putting contest . One fan will win a chance to putt a golf ball on the ice—if the ball stops in the rings at the far end, they’ll win official USA Curling Columbia merchandise. If you think the greens at Augusta are fast, try the ice at the Coliseum!
During the week-long National Championships, teams in the Men’s and Women’s events will compete in round-robin play, with the top four teams of each gender qualifying for the playoff round. The winners of each championship will represent the USA at the World Championships later this year.
The 2022 Olympic teams, Team Shuster and Team Peterson, headline a field of men’s and women’s curlers seeking to raise the national championship trophy. NFL All-Pro Jared Allen will also compete as part of Team Smith, hoping to make a name for himself in the sport of curling after a long career in professional football.
“Not only will you see amazing athleticism and shotmaking on the ice, you’ll have a lot of fun,” said USA Curling Interim CEO Dean Gemmell. “We will have Curling Gurus in the stands to explain the game to newcomers, and we’re excited to give spectators a chance to try our great sport.”
Single-game tickets and event-long passes are available for purchase here. To see the teams and the event schedule, go to the USA Curling website.
