GRANITE CURLING CLUB OF SEATTLE TO HOST 2023 SENIOR CURLING NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS
On Mar. 4-11, Granite Curling Club (GCC) in Seattle, Wash., will host the 2023 USA Curling Senior Men’s and Women’s National Championships.
“GCC is looking forward to bringing competitors, spectators, and communities together again following COVID,” said Lori Markham, past President at Granite Curling Club of Seattle.
Since its founding as an organization in 1951 and then as a facility in 1961, the Granite Curling Club of Seattle has fostered an environment dedicated to providing resources, inclusivity, and community to curlers in the greater Seattle area.
Hosting five sheets of curling ice and warm rooms with ice visibility on both the first and second floors, GCC has become home to over 500 members.
“GCC and our amazing volunteer-based membership is always excited and proud to share our passion for the sport of curling with our local community and our curling family,” added Markham. “Bringing senior competitors to the state of Washington showcases the wide diversity of athletes in our sport.”
The USA Curling Senior National Championships determine the top senior (50 years of age and above) men’s and women’s curling teams in the United States.
“Our hope for the participants is that they will enjoy a great competitive experience and gain personal fulfillment with the renewal of old friendships, new friendships, and enjoy all that the Pacific Northwest has to offer,” concluded Markham.
In addition to playing for the national title, winning teams will earn berths to represent the United States at the World Senior Curling Championships 2023.
