[EDEN PRAIRIE, MN, August 12th, 2024]  Following a vote by its own members in May in favor of a return, the Grand National Curling Club (GNCC) was welcomed back as a Recognized Regional Association (RRA) of USA Curling at the annual Members’ Meeting of the national organization.

This year’s Members’ Meeting was the first following the adoption of amended bylaws that gave individual members of USA Curling voting rights. Member Clubs carried the votes of their USA Curling members, but individuals could also notify the organization of their desire to vote separately.

The Members’ Meeting, held at the Chaska Event Center adjacent to the Chaska Curling Center this past Friday evening, kicked off a weekend that included courses, certifications, and a Coach Conference.

“The curling community is strongest when we work together,” said USA Curling Board Chair Bret Jackson. “We’re pleased the GNCC membership voted to return to the national organization, and we welcome Jen Tschumakow as the GNCC representative on the USA Curling Board of Directors.”

USA Curling bylaws were amended to reflect the addition of the GNCC as an RRA, and members voted in favor of the changes. In addition to Tschumakow, two other USA Curling Board members were also approved in a vote by the membership—Jeff Annis as the Director from the Minnesota Curling Association and Bret Jackson as the Director representing the Great Lakes Curling Association and the Midwest Curling Association.

There was also a vote to move 15 clubs from provisional members of USA Curling to full Member Clubs of the organization. Returning Member Clubs included Belfast, Chaska, Colonial, Finger Lakes, Norfolk, Potomac, Jersey Pinelands, and South Shore. New Member Clubs included Brookings, Cloud City, Frogtown, Petoskey, Teton, and Thunder Bay.

Minutes of the Members’ Meeting will be available on the USA Curling website shortly.
