LAUREN RICH JOINS USA CURLING, LEADS MEMBER SERVICES
[EAGAN, MN, September 6, 2023] — USA Curling is pleased to announce that Lauren Rich—curler, ice technician, data wizard—will manage Member Services at the organization.
Based in the Pacific Northwest and a member of the Evergreen Curling Club in Beaverton, OR, she began curling in 2018 at the Silicon Valley Curling Club after watching the 2018 Winter Olympic Games.
Rich has a Bachelor of Science in Physics from the Missouri University of Science and Technology, a Masters of Science in Optics from the University of Central Florida, and has previously worked as a Systems Engineer and Research Scientist. While a background in professional research and laboratory work may not seem to be a natural transition to working in sport, that experience gives Rich the ability to identify and solve problems with effective resolutions.
In addition, she is a member of the USA Curling ice crews at major events and is one of seven ice technicians in the United States recently certified to deliver the World Curling Academy Ice Technician courses.
“We are fortunate to add someone with Lauren’s skill set and passion for curling,” noted Dean Gemmell, CEO of USA Curling. “She will bolster our continued commitment to making this a member-focused, responsive organization.”
In her position, Rich will manage member issues, help develop programming that benefits both individuals and member clubs, and lead the integration of the proposed new membership model. She will also continue to work on USA Curling ice crews and lead Ice Technician educational efforts.
“I’m excited to be a part of this organization,” added Rich. “Anyone who knows me knows how important curling is to me. I’m looking forward to the opportunity to help grow the sport and ensure a positive, valuable member experience.”
