PLAYOFFS SET AT 2021 U.S. MEN’S NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP
With a 7-2 record through round robin play, Team Dropkin advances to the playoffs as the top seed.
In the page playoff format, Team Dropkin will take on second seeded Team Brundidge who secured their playoff spot by defeating Team Dunnam 10-2 in the final game of the round robin.
"The boys are putting me in a good position and I'm making the last shot,” said Jed Brundidge. “That's a good recipe to win right there."
Team Brundidge confident in their momentum heading into playoffs.
“It's fun when skipper is making shots and the front end is communicating well,” said Evan Workin, third for Team Brundidge. “It's easy to make a lot of shots when that's going on."
Team Dunnam and Team Brundidge completed the round robin with 6-3 records, but Brundidge’s victory over Dunnam secured the higher ranking in the playoffs based on head-to-head.
"It's incredible,” said Evan Workin on their playoff qualification. “We put so much work in. Jed dialed it up the last few games and picked us up.”
Team Dunnam’s 9-8 extra end win over Team Violette in the fifth session of the men’s round robin gives Dunnam the third playoff seed.
Violette’s 8-4 victory over Dropkin in the final round robin game advances them as the fourth team to complete the playoff picture.
“It was definitely a really gritty week for us,” said Luc Violette. “We had a few really tough losses and had to bounce back. We certainly knew that our last few games would be our hardest opponents, so we dug deep and found our best curling."
The men’s page playoff games will be played tonight at 6:00 PM.
The winner of the Dropkin vs. Brundidge game will advance to the Championship final and be the first of two teams to qualify for the 2022 Olympic Team Trials.
The loser of the Brundidge vs. Dropkin game will play the winner of Dunnam vs. Violette, where the winner will advance to the final and secure the second 2022 Olympic Team Trials berth.
