REVISED WHEELCHAIR CURLING PARALYMPIC AND NATIONAL TEAM SELECTION PROCEDURES

(STEVENS POINT, Wis.) – As COVID-19 continues to prompt cancellations and postponements of events, USA Curling has made the following changes to the 2021 Wheelchair Curling National Team Selection and the 2022 Paralympic Team Selection:

The team representing the United States at the Wheelchair Curling World B Championships being held in Lohja, Finland in November 2020 will be selected from the current 2020 Wheelchair Curling National Team. Due to the retirement of a Wheelchair Curling National Athlete following the 2019-20 season, an alternate will be selected to fill that open position.  As wheelchair curling is a co-ed sport, the team’s gender composition will be considered as part of the selection criteria.

The pre-trials for the 2022 Paralympic Team Selection have been postponed to a date and location that is to be determined. The timing of this event will be no earlier than April 1, 2021. Subsequently, the 2022 Paralympic Team Selection Trials have also been postponed to a date and location that is to be determined. A rescheduled date and location will be provided to all athletes selected for participation in these events a minimum of 45 days in advance.

The selection requirements for Wheelchair Curling Mixed Doubles will be released in the near future.
