THREE JUNIOR WOMEN’S NATIONALS BERTHS NOW AVAILABLE AT FINAL QUALIFIER BONSPIEL IN MARCH

[EDEN PRAIRIE, MN, January 7, 2024]  USA Curling is changing the number of Junior Women’s Nationals berths that will be awarded at the Four Seasons Junior Bonspiel, schedule for March 7-9, 2025. The reason for this change is outlined below.

By both precedent and established USA Curling rules, teams that earn berths in national championships, whether through qualifying bonspiels, a playdown event, or World Curling Team Ranking System points, are required to have three of four or three of five members who played in the qualifying bonspiel, the playdown event, or the events that garnered World Curling Team Ranking System points. This ensures competitive integrity—the team members that earn a berth are the players who compete at the National Championship. This is fair not only to the rest of the field at any Nationals, but to all the teams that compete for a berth through a qualifying process.

USA Curling was recently informed that Team Stopera would no longer compete together. This team had previously captured a berth in the 2025 US Curling Junior Women's Nationals by winning the Broomstones Junior Bonspiel. In addition, USA Curling was informed that Team Giroux would also not continue as a team. This team had earned a berth through their points ranking on the World Curling Team Ranking system.

Since Team Stopera is not continuing with at least three of the four players who earned the berth at the Broomstones Junior Bonspiel, and Team Giroux is not continuing with three of four players from their lineup, those berths are being moved to the final qualifying event—the Four Seasons Junior Bonspiel.

As a result, the first, second, and third place finishers in Blaine will qualify for the 2025 USA Curling Junior Women’s Nationals.

Registration for the 2025 Four Seasons Junior Bonspiel will open later this week. The 2025 USA Curling Junior National Championships will be at the Bowling Green Curling Club in Bowling Green, OH, from April 1st to April 6th.
