USA CURLING PARTNERS WITH CURLING STADIUM TO PROVIDE WEBSTREAMING OF FIVE NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS
Agreement will provide coverage of all four competition sheets at Women’s/Men’s Nationals, Mixed Doubles, and Junior Women’s/Men’s Nationals.
[EAGAN, MN, January 5, 2023] — USA Curling has reached an agreement with Curling Stadium to provide streaming of the Men’s and Women’s National Championships in Denver, CO, the Mixed Doubles National Championship in Kalamazoo, MI, and the Junior Women’s and Junior Men’s National Championships in Wayland, MA.
"We are very excited for this opportunity. Giving viewers the option to watch the games they want to watch was, and is, our goal,” said John Benton, Chief Technical Officer at Curling Stadium. “The technology behind our solution, a byproduct of the pandemic, gives us the ability to stream every game from facilities and events like these ones. It's a huge step forward for the sport.
Benton added, “Our predecessors were pioneers and innovators. I'm personally grateful for the path they blazed. It's safe to say that none of us would be doing this without their efforts."
With this agreement, USA Curling will deliver more Women’s, Men’s, Mixed Doubles, Junior Women’s, and Junior Men’s national championship games to curling fans than ever before.
In addition to a feature game each draw at the upcoming Men’s and Women’s Nationals with near-broadcast-TV production quality and commentary by 2018 Gold Medalist Tyler George, there will be coverage of the other three games on the ice, provided without announcers.
After winning a gold medal in 2018, George retired from competitive play and has worked in the broadcast booth for both NBC Sports and the World Curling Federation.
“I have so many memories from competing at the Nationals,” George remarked. “Now I’m looking forward to providing my insights for fans at an event that is a showcase for elite curling talent in the United States.”
Working with Curling Stadium reflects the USA Curling commitment to providing the extensive coverage that curlers and fans of the game want.
“Making more games available is a major goal of the organization,” added USA Curling Interim CEO Dean Gemmell. “I have always said that we will stream as many games and championships as our resources allow. This is a positive step in that direction.”
