The Curtis Cup Sportsmanship Awards, donated by the Curtis family of Portage, WI, are presented at the annual Junior National Championships to the Junior Women’s and Junior Men’s teams that exemplify the Spirit of Curling both on and off. This award is voted on by competitors in the event. .

In honor of the late Katie Beck, 2002 World Junior Champion and two-time U.S. Junior National Champion, an annual award has been established by Sharon O’Brien to be presented each year at the U.S. Junior National Championships to an athlete playing in the second position who is coachable and has a true love for the sport of curling.

Garland legacie sportsmanship award

Honoring the late Garland Legacie, a USCA ice technician known for his embodiment of The Spirit of Curling, this award is voted on by coaches at the U18 National Championship every year and finalized by the event’s chief umpire to be given to a curler who not only loves the sport, but also shows great respect and camaraderie to curlers, ice makers, officials, the USCA, friends, volunteers, family members, members of curling clubs, and fans.
