Ann Brown

Ann Brown was the first woman to serve as president of both the United States Curling Association (1991-1992) and the United States Women’s Curling Association (1986-1987). She is known both as a leader and communicator. During her tenure in various offices and committee posts with both groups, she was a major factor in fostering productive, mutually beneficial relationships between curlers of many interests at state and national levels. Ann served on the Illinois Curling Association Board from 1987 to 1994. She was selected as a member of the women’s curling team that toured Scotland in 1986.

Ann and her husband, Larry, began curling at Exmoor Curling Club, Highland Park, Illinois, in 1969.

As a competitor, Ann has skipped or vice-skipped four USWCA National Bonspiel winners, six Illinois State Women’s Championship teams and (with Larry) has won the Illinois State Mixed Championships three times.  

Ann was a key director of the host committee for the 1987 Women’s World Curling Championship held at Lake Forest College, Lake Forest, Illinois. She is a certified Level II instructor and an official in the Curl America Program and has officiated in many National Championships.
