TEAM FALCO DEFENDS MIXED FOURS NATIONALS TITLE

[EDEN PRAIRIE, MN, April 21, 2025] — After capturing their first Mixed Fours National Championship in 2024, Team Falco (David Falco, Becca Wood, Lance Wheeler, Clare Moores) put a stamp on that win with a successful title defense in 2025.
The team, playing at their home club in Denver, went through round-robin play in Pool A with a perfect 5-0 record, advancing directly to a semi-final matchup against Team Barajas (Jesus Barajas, Kate Garfinkel, Erik Chiarella, Kristina Lugo) from the San Francisco Bay Area Curling Club. Barajas had reached the playoffs after finishing pool play at 3-2, and defeating Team Workin (Evan Workin, Rachel Workin, Jordan Brown, Christina Wilwand) by a score of 8-5 in the first playoff round.
In their semi-final, Team Falco defeated Barajas 8-2, and moved on to the championship game against Madison’s Team Roth (Nina Roth, Kroy Nernberger, Tony Roth, Shalon Holbeck). In the final, the Colorado foursome continued their impressive run, jumping out to an early 4-1 lead on their way to a convincing 7-3 victory.
Following the game, skip Falco commented, “This is a very special group. It has been such an honor growing together as friends and teammates. I am so proud of the effort they put in and their performance this week, and I’m glad I could come through for them when they needed me.”
Team Roth earned silver medals by advancing to the final after going 4-1 in Pool B, before defeating Alaska’s Team Persinger (Greg Persinger, Liz Odell Howe, Ealum Howe, Sarah Smith) 8-4 in the semi-finals. In the bronze medal matchup, Team Barajas picked up the hardware with an 8-4 victory over Persinger.
Twelve teams entered the championship, representing the Recognized Regional Associations of USA Curling and the host club. Games were streamed and remain available on the Denver Curling Club YouTube channel while all results can be found here on the USA Curling website.
