[EDEN PRAIRIE, MN, April 26, 2025]  The 2025 World Mixed Doubles Curling Championship at Willie O'Ree Place in Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada, starts today, with the event running from April 26th through May 3rd.

Cory Thiesse and Korey Dropkin earned their place in the championship by winning the Mixed Doubles Olympic Team Trials this past February at Rock Creek Curling in Lafayette, CO, avenging a silver medal finish at the 2024 USA Curling Mixed Doubles Nationals.

Thiesse/Dropkin have enjoyed international success in this discipline in recent years, capturing the 2023 world championship at the Gangneung Curling Centre in Gangneung, Korea. In addition to seeking a world title, countries competing at the 2025 championship are aiming to secure Qualification Points for the 2026 Winter Olympic Games. Points earned at this year’s event and the 2024 Worlds will determine the first eight teams in Mixed Doubles at the Games, with two more teams added at the Olympic Qualification Event next December.

Twenty teams from around the world will compete in two groups. Thiesse/Dropkin are in Pool B, along with Australia, Czech Republic, Estonia, Japan, New Zealand, Norway, Spain, Switzerland, and Turkey. Three teams from each group will advance towards the championship, with group winners advancing directly to the semi-finals while the second and third place finishers compete in the first playoff round.

The 2025 World Senior Curling Championships run concurrently at the same venue in Fredericton.
