ROCK CREEK CURLING TO HOST 2023 U18 NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS
Rock Creek Curling in Lafayette, Colorado, will welcome the nation’s top U18 curlers on Jan. 12-15, 2023, for the 2023 U18 National Championships.
Rock Creek Curling is Colorado’s newest dedicated curling facility, boasting six sheets of curling ice, an expansive two-story warm room, and views of the Rocky Mountains.
“We are thrilled to play host to the 2023 USA Curling U18 National Championships,” said Sean Stevinson, owner of Rock Creek Curling. “This is an event we’ve wanted to see at Rock Creek even before we opened our facility.”
The state-of-the-art facility first opened its doors in October 2021, and while new, possesses a passion and commitment for growing the curling community.
“Our mission is to promote curling and its community, and to provide a fun and positive experience for people of all ages,” added Stevinson. “When we opened last year, a brand-new curling community was formed, and we knew we wanted to ensure youth curlers were included in the community from the start. Junior curling is growing in Colorado, and in the wider region, so being able to showcase the talents of youth curlers from across the nation at an event like this will create excitement for the game at the junior level.”
The USA Curling U18 National Championships are a regionally based, geographic championship, created to provide additional competitive experience to up-and-coming athletes by determining the top girls and boys curling teams in the United States that are under the age of 18 years old.
“The Rock Creek Curling community will be enthusiastic supporters of all the U18 competitors and their support teams,” said Stevinson. “They have embraced the spirit of curling from their first times out on the ice, and we can’t wait to welcome everyone in January!”
With practice starting the morning of January 12th and the semi-finals and finals being played on January 15th, Rock Creek Curling will be the stage of an action-packed weekend as 12 girls and 12 boys teams compete for the national title this coming January.
“In addition to the competition, we’re excited to have curling families spend some time with us and enjoy what Colorado has to offer its visitors,” concluded Stevinson.
Conveniently located a half hour from Denver International Airport and energized by the growth of the sport, Rock Creek Curling is sure to be a hospitable, pristine, and elite venue for the nation’s top U18 athletes.
